Automatic Gestational Age Estimation Based on Crown Rump Length and Gestational Sac
نویسندگان
چکیده
The development of ultrasound technology allows us to see the structure and development of the fetus directly. Crown-Rump Length (CRL) and mean diameter of gestational sac (MSD) can be used to determine the age of the fetus. Both parameters are useful for measuring different aspects of the first trimester of pregnancy. This study proposes a method to obtain those parameter values automatically by converting the number pixels of ultrasound image into measurement unit. Image processing method is used to separate fetal object and gestational sac from other objects based on their boundaries. On this primary study, successive calculation of CRL and MSD using the proposed method is 60% and 70% respectively by 10 sample ultrasound images. Future expectations, these basic and other findings can be better developed to help midwives and general practitioners using ultrasound easier.

Defining safe criteria to diagnose miscarriage: prospective observational multicentre study
OBJECTIVES To validate recent guidance changes by establishing the performance of cut-off values for embryo crown-rump length and mean gestational sac diameter to diagnose miscarriage with high levels of certainty. Secondary aims were to examine the influence of gestational age on interpretation of mean gestational sac diameter and crown-rump length values, determine the optimal intervals betwe...
متن کاملEstimation of gestational age in early pregnancy from crown-rump length when gestational age range is truncated: the case study of the INTERGROWTH-21st Project
BACKGROUND Fetal ultrasound scanning is considered vital for routine antenatal care with first trimester scans recommended for accurate estimation of gestational age (GA). A reliable estimate of gestational age is key information underpinning clinical care and allows estimation of expected date of delivery. Fetal crown-rump length (CRL) is recommended over last menstrual period for estimating G...
متن کاملEstimating Gestational Age in Late Presenters to Antenatal Care in a Resource-Limited Setting on the Thai-Myanmar Border
Estimating gestational age in resource-limited settings is prone to considerable inaccuracy because crown-rump length measured by ultrasound before 14 weeks gestation, the recommended method for estimating gestational age, is often unavailable. Judgements regarding provision of appropriate obstetric and neonatal care are dependent on accurate estimation of gestational age. We determined the acc...
متن کاملNormal ranges of embryonic length, embryonic heart rate, gestational sac diameter and yolk sac diameter at 6-10 weeks.
OBJECTIVES To construct normal ranges for embryonic crown-rump length (CRL), heart rate (HR), gestational sac diameter (GSD) and yolk sac diameter (YSD) at 6-10 weeks of gestation. METHODS We examined 4,698 singleton pregnancies with ultrasound measurements of CRL, HR, GSD and YSD at 6-10 weeks and CRL at 11-13 weeks resulting in the live birth after 36 weeks of phenotypically normal neonates...
متن کاملMetatarsal growth during the second trimester: a predictor of gestational age?
Metatarsal growth was studied in 780 human fetal metatarsal bones, crown-rump length ranging from 120 to 260 mm and gestational age ranging from 14 to 23 wk postconception. Total length, diaphyseal length and diameter were measured and statistical analysis performed. Means and standard deviations for each measurement were calculated at 1 wk intervals. These data were correlated with crown-rump ...
